The piece is made from a soft green material, it comes with a hood, draw strings and a large center pocket. The entire front is decorated with patches of various fabrics from the other items in the collection. I cut out and ironed on letters that trans folks wrote to their younger selves. Lace and pearls have also been added to the front.

Artist Statement-
Working on this piece made me realize that I needed to plan an installation. Reading the words ‘Mom still loves you’ made me realize that this project was a lot bigger than me. I knew I needed to host some sort of public viewing or gallery. My community nurtured my creative passion, sheltered me while I learned new skills, and has truly become the backbone of this collection.
After reading all of the letter submissions, I knew they needed to show up in more than just the clothing. Which led to the music including voices.
In 2015 I was interviewed by Mashable for an article/photoshoot called Trans Teen America. They brought a dozen different trans teens from all across New England together at the New York LGBTQ Center. We were dressed up in the coolest clothing and interviewed. I loved the experience because all phases of transition were included. I had yet to start medically transitioning, but was included and felt an equal opportunity to speak on my own experiences.
Here is a quote from one of the other trans men “Before I came out, I would wear hoodies like all the time, and it would make me feel protected.” This has stuck with me for the last ten years. How a piece of clothing can feel like armor.

This hoodie walked at NYFW, NHFW and at the largest halloween ball in Maine! They have also spent the last month at the public art installation at the Equality Community Center.
